Primary Cast of Characters

Veronica - As we learn in the Prologue, she is a former CIA officer who, fifteen years ago, defeated the most accomplished assassin on the planet. She lives with her boyfriend Jason Bishop who lives in Akron, Ohio with his thirteen-year-old daughter Mariah.  Unfortunately, she has only vague memories of her CIA past, yet she must deal with the present-day realities of helping her stepdaughter grow into adulthood. But she must be careful. The assassin is searching for her.

 

Cabal – AKA Garrett Caden, Cabal is the most feared assassin on the planet. He has become something of an assassination bureau brokering all forms of murder. Even since his time as a trigger, he has been known for delivering on all his contracts-except for one. Since that defeat at the hands of Veronica, he has become a sulking untrusting murderer obsessed with exacting revenge for what she did to him so long ago. 

 

Mariah – An only child, thirteen years old, Mariah lives with her father, Jason, and his girlfriend Veronica in Akron, Ohio. A product of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) she was always somewhat shy and had issues dealing with others on a social level. But something terrifying happened to her in Baltimore several months after her mother’s death causing her to slip into a catatonic state. With the help of her father and doctors she came out of that state although, for now, she has lost socialization skills.    

 

Jason Bishop - Introduced to Veronica by his brother Jamie, he lives in Akron with his girlfriend Veronica and his daughter Mariah. He is an attorney who works in the DA’s office and volunteers as a CASA representative, advocating for children in the foster care system in cases of abuse and neglect.  

 

Jamie Bishop - An officer in the CIA, he has a close relationship with both his brother Jason and niece Mariah. He has been attached to a special clandestine unit within the CIA in an advisory and support as needed capacity. He goes on various missions to support the head of Operations although he has recently asked to be removed from field unit duties.

Other Characters

 

Pamela Harwood – Oldest of three children in the Harwood household. Jason, as part of his CASA duties has recommended that the children remain under the care of their foster parents. Although he feels the father, Torrance Harwood, is a dangerous psychopath, the judge disagreed and has ordered the children to go back with their parents. Jason has promised Pamela he would keep her safe.

 

Bill Santiago – Head of Operations for the CIA who lives with his wife Marie in Alexandria, Virginia. He has known Jamie Bishop for many years and understands his need to stay stateside. He has acquiesced to Bishop’s request but needs him desperately to contact Ian Jennings who has crucial information but may have been taken by Al-Maghreb insurgents operating in Jordan.

 

Ian Jennings – A CIA officer and friend of Jamie Bishop who may have crucial information regarding an assassination plot. His last known position was in Jordan, but he hasn’t contacted the office in over two weeks. He may have been taken.

 

Abu Qadir – Self-proclaimed Caliph and leader of all Al Maghreb forces. He began his fierce campaign in Libya and is now consolidating his forces in Northern Iraq in preparation, ultimately, for a move against Jordan or Syria. His ruthless forces are well financed, feared even by traditional Islamic State leadership. He must be stopped and is wanted dead or alive, preferably dead, by the US government.

 

Ahmad Bishara – Ian Jennings’ primary contact in Amman, Jordan.

Kassab Zahir – Chief Interrogator and Executioner working for an Al Maghreb cell in Al-Mafraq Jordan.

​

Aaliyah – Ahmad Bishara’s cousin.

​

Captain Mathew Evers – Captain in Army Special Forces operating in Iraq.

​

Colonel Murdock – Head of Army Special Forces ground troop movements in Iraq.

​

Faruq – Commander and Chief Interrogator for Al-Maghreb forces in Iraq.

​

Tess Michaels – Recent CIA recruit with strong Information Technology and military background. She works for Bill Santiago, head of Operations.
